Story

Elira intrigued people. Some compared her to the town quack, "she's just another scammer," they said. But actually she wasn’t. Her attitude was rather reserved and mysterious, she did not share her secrets with anyone, much less profit from her knowledge.

The myths that reveal that children see beyond what the adult gaze reaches are real. Those old tales that talk about shadows, the Bogeyman, or similar beings are more based on reality than it seems. It seems like people have become naive over the years.

The mother of our protagonist, the boy, turned out to be a skeptic who never believed in mystical stories and did not agree that Elira "put rocks in his head". That is why the grandmother stopped talking to her about everything that the mother disapproved of.

Every night the little boy was afraid to go to bed because of those beings that did not let him sleep. His mother explained that it was just his imagination and that if he stopped thinking about it he would have no more nightmares. The boy, incredulous, went to his grandmother Elira. She found out that Baruca was sending monsters to feed on his nightmares.

The grandmother promised her grandson that she would take care of him, he had nothing to worry about. Night after night the old woman kept her promise, she protected her grandson from the monsters that every night tried to get from the realm of shadows through the closet.

The wardrobe remained sealed for years. But the day came when the grandmother passed away, not before casting her last spell. The boy, without knowing it, slept comfortably every night while his toys watched over his safety facing Baruca's henchmen.
